Welcome to the Garden!

The boys and I began work on cleaning up the mess in the forsythia forest left behind by the tree trimmers. We cut many forsythia branches (the boys tend to get a bit carried away with the pruners) and dug up a few forsythia bushes to create an additional path through the "forest." We arranged two of the honey locust logs to create an entrance, and in the process Will collected several large night crawlers.

Within the forest, the tree trimmers had removed the boys' climbing tree leaving the area looking rather bare. Will built a dry creek bed with river rock, and we have a sunny spot cleared for my raised garden bed. I am super excited about our progress, and I love that the boys volunteered to help with the hard labor. Once we spread mulch, add soil and plants to the garden bed, and remove one small honey locust our work will be done.
