Until Next Spring

Today was the last run of the Wabash Frisco & Pacific Railroad for 2009, and I am already looking forward to the 2010 season. I often joke that we worship at the WF&P, but for me the train ride really is spiritual. There is something about being pulled by a real steam engine alongside the river. While traveling under the shade of the trees, I feel a sense of calm, and I always return to the station more relaxed and at peace.

We became members of the railroad this year, and we rode almost every Sunday. We always rode the first train of the day, but never tired of the trip as each week was different.

I carry such wonderful memories of riding the train with my Dad. He so loved trains, and I appreciate the opportunity to share a little piece of Grandpa with Will and Quinn each Sunday. I hope my boys cherish the memories of the train as much as I do.
