Making Note of the Details

Thanks to the snow and the rain, the Meramec River is flooded again and so is Kiefer Creek, so hiking a portion of the River Scene Trail was our only option at Castlewood today. The boys and I all enjoy a nice walk through the woods, but the problem is that Will and Quinn move at two very different speeds. Will is usally one hundred feet in front of me, while Quinn is one hundred feet behind me. While Will is racing along the trail, Quinn is stopping to pick up a stick, digging in the dirt, watching a microscopic bug cross the path, or checking out the inside of a tree trunk.

Thankfully Will stops every so often to rest and recharge. This allows Quinn to catch up, and for a few brief moments we are all walking together.
