How Does Will's Garden Grow?

The novelty of the garden has yet to fade, and Will goes out to check on his vegetables each morning. His strawberry plants were not successful, as the green berries were swiped by some backyard critters before ripening, yet Will was not discouraged. After studying the damage, Will feels pretty confident that the strawberry swipers are deer that sometimes visit our backyard. He suggested putting up a fence, which he selected and helped to install. While I am pretty sure the deer can just stretch their necks over the top of the pickets and rabbits and squirrels can squeeze through the pickets, he insists it is "just the perfect fence" that "will do the trick." We shall see!

I am feeling hopeful and excited, as we have our first zucchini bloom.

There are also green tomatoes hanging on the vine.

Oh, how I look forward to the homegrown tastes of summer!
