Red, Ripe, and Delicious

We headed to Thies Farm to gather some strawberry goodness. As we picked, the boys sampled a few of the strawberries.

Proof that Missouri strawberries are solid - no hollow centers!

It was a hot afternoon, and we were dripping with sweat (and strawberry juice). We believed one box of strawberries would be sufficient, so we headed in from the field.

Quinn sampled the berries as he traveled in the wagon to the check-out counter.

The boys continued to sample the berries once we got home. They could not resist the goodness, and by the time they went to bed, only a handful of berries remained. Six pounds gone in less than 5 hours!

Will desperately wanted to bake Great Grandma Waide's Strawberry -Rhubarb Crunch, yet we did not have enough strawberries. He asked to return to the strawberry fields the next day. He was up to the challenge of picking an entire box of strawberries himself.

In the end, we had picked an additional 10 pounds of strawberries. Enough for making strawberry-rhubarb crunch, and plenty more for snacking.
