A "New" Stable

The boys found the Hearthsong catalog in the mail today. They spent a great deal of time flipping through the pages and creating a "wishlist." When Quinn came upon this stable he could not think about anything else for a good half hour. Repeatedly he pleaded, "Mommy, I want this stable. Please, Mommy." When Daddy came home a few hours later, Quinn hurried to show him the stable. We all agreed that it was a very nice stable, but unfortunately it was very expensive. He assured us that he could buy it. "I have money in my wallet." I knew he had his heart set on a stable, so I told him I would find him a different stable. After searching the internet and discovering all horse stables seem to come with a steep price tag, I knew I needed to get creative. I thought about the boys' wooden dollhouse and decided I could probably pull it off. Once the boys were in bed, I got to work. I set up the horse nursery upstairs, placed some horses downstairs, and put a few horses out in the pasture. In the morning Will yelled, "Quinnie, come quick!" Upon seeing it Quinn asked, "Is this my new stable?" "Yes, Quinn, this is your 'new' stable."

Good job with the creative dollhouse refashioning! Great idea! And I promise I won't tell!

Parents can be so tricky! ;)

Happy to hear that the dollhouse is still finding value for the boys!

How fun! Did you make the fence yourself? Playing with farms never grows old, does it?
