Sunday at Sherman Beach

After riding the train this weekend, we headed down river to Sherman Beach. It was a nice change from Castlewood. Although they are both along the Meramec River, Castlewood and Sherman Beach are very different. Castlewood is sandy with some rocks and small "seashells" while Sherman Beach is rocky with some areas of sand and loaded with large "seashells." While Quinn immediately found the small patch of sand, Will was busy collecting shells. He desperately wanted to take ALL of them home stating that they were his "friends."
Thankfully we were able to agree to bringing home two large intact mussel shells and a lone rusty railroad spike. Since we had not planned for a trip to the beach, we did not have our pails, shovels, and trucks. The boys quickly found that shells and sticks made great replacements.
While they collected, scooped and dug, they also watched the freight trains, passenger trains, motor boats, and jet skis travel past.
