Meet Mortimer & Ralph

Will is all about mice! At least 2 times a week for the last two months we have visited the local PETCO to see the mice. At Quinn's request, we also take time to visit the bunnies, birds, and fish. I knew that we would eventually get a mouse for a pet, and for fear of being banned from PETCO I promised the employees that one day we would actually make a purchase. Will had already chosen the names, considered the necessary supplies, and was patiently awaiting the BIG day! I was really hoping to hold out until Christmas, but the thought of visiting the pet store 2-3 times a week for the next three months seemed a bit mundane to me. So I decided today would be the day we would bring home some mice. Will chose the Super Pet Critter Trail Pink Cage, a pink Super Pet Mini Runabout Ball, two sweet female mice, and a few other necessities. Once we got the cage set-up at home, we spent some time holding and petting the mice, and treating them to a bit of grape. Mortimer (the larger charcoal mouse) seems to prefer burrowing on the lower level of the cage, while Ralph (the smaller white & charcoal mouse) has set up camp at the top of the tube leading to the upper level.

Will watches as Ralph climbs to the top of the tube.

Will and Quinn are very excited about their new friends. Every few minutes Will ran to the cage saying, "I need to see how my mice doing." Unfortuantely, Madison is not so find of the rodents. She has spent most of the afternoon sitting near the cage sniffing, whining, growling, and barking. She gets especially fired up when they climb the tube to the upper level of their cage. I can only imagine her reaction to one of the mice getting a bit of exercise in the ball.
Ralph takes a break from exercising while Will gets a close-up view of his new pet.
