Road Builders

Spring in our neighborhood is defined by the return of the robins; daffodils, tulips, and crocus in full bloom; and men in hard hats. This is the time of year when they replace the cracked and crumbling sections of the pavement. With heavy machinery, construction barrels, and excavated streets, our neighborhood resembles an obstacle course. The boys are in heaven! From the comfort of their stroller, they spent two hours Wednesday dancing to the beat of the jackhammer, belly laughing at the antics of the frontloader; and supervising the scooping, dumping, and grading of gravel.

Despite the rain and a lack of workers, the "supervisors" were out on Thursday assessing the work thus far.

Today the workers were back for a short while to install the wood framing along the grass, and the boys stood across the street overseeing the hammering. One of the men suggested the boys strap on their boots next week when they pour the cement. Will is SO excited! I am thinking we are really busy that day!
